What We Believe
At Fellowship Baptist Church, God's Word is our ultimate authority for truth, faith, and life. We stand firmly on the historic, biblical truths that have guided the church of Jesus Christ through the ages.
Jesus Christ Is Lord, Savior, and King
"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures."
— 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
Doctrinal Statements
Core convictions taught, cherished, and lived out in our church family.
The Holy Scriptures
01Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105
The Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, and the supreme and final authority for faith and life.
- Infallible and inerrant in all that it affirms
- The complete revelation of God's will for the salvation of mankind
- The divine standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried
The Triune God
02Scripture: Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
There is one and only one living and true God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each equal in divine perfection.
- God the Father: Sovereign Creator, holy, loving, and just
- God the Son: Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, the promised Messiah
- God the Holy Spirit: The divine Counselor who convicts, regenerates, and indwells believers
The Person & Work of Jesus Christ
03Scripture: John 1:1-14; Romans 5:8-10; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 4:14-16
Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, and rose bodily from the grave.
- Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary
- Voluntarily surrendered His life on the cross as the only sufficient sacrifice for human sin
- Physically arose from the dead on the third day and ascended to the right hand of the Father
- Will return personally and visibly in power and glory
Humanity & The Need for Grace
04Scripture: Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3
Humanity was created in the image and likeness of God, but through Adam's disobedience fell into sin and inherited a fallen nature, becoming separated from God.
- Every person possesses inherent dignity and value as made in God's image
- All people have sinned and fall short of God's holy standard
- No one can save themselves or earn right standing before God through good works
Salvation by Grace Alone
05Scripture: John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10; Titus 3:5
Salvation is a gift of God's grace, received solely through repentance and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose shed blood cleanses from all sin.
- Justification by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone
- Regeneration by the Holy Spirit, imparting eternal life
- Eternal security: true believers are kept by the power of God for eternity
The Church & Ordinances
06Scripture: Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:41-47; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Ephesians 4:11-16
The local church is an autonomous congregation of baptized believers united by faith, governed by God's Word, and observing the biblical ordinances of Believer's Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
- Believer's Baptism by immersion as an outward testimony of faith and identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection
- The Lord's Supper as a symbolic memorial of Christ's sacrifice, celebrated in remembrance of Him
- Autonomous and self-governing under the lordship of Jesus Christ
The Christian Life & Discipleship
07Scripture: Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 5:22-23; Colossians 3:1-17; 1 Peter 1:15-16
Every believer is called to live a holy life set apart for God's glory, walking by the Spirit, cultivating spiritual fruit, and growing in Christlikeness.
- Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and loving our neighbors as ourselves
- Engaging in consistent prayer, worship, Bible study, and Christian fellowship
- Using our spiritual gifts and resources to build up the body of Christ and serve our community
The Great Commission
08Scripture: Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:14-15
It is the sacred duty and privilege of every Christian and church to proclaim the Gospel to all nations, making disciples, baptizing them, and teaching them to obey all that Christ commanded.
- Personal evangelism: sharing the good news with family, neighbors, and coworkers
- Local outreach: blessing our surrounding communities in Millington, Quito, Drummonds, and beyond
- Global missions: praying, giving, and sending disciples to the ends of the earth
The Baptist Faith & Message 2000
Fellowship Baptist Church proudly affirms and cooperates under the statement of faith outlined in The Baptist Faith & Message (2000) adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention. This confession expresses our shared biblical convictions on doctrine, family, the Christian walk, and the Great Commission.
